Where in the world is Carmen Sandeigo?

I’m not actually Carmen Sandiego, but I have been almost like an absentee landlord this past few weeks.

Don’t worry though, it isn’t just my site, but my WoW account, even my facebook has seen less of me. Twitter is the only one untouched since, lets face it, 140 characters take seconds, at best.

Now, in order to be a full time student at my school, you need to be in 3, minimum. Most people take 4 max. You see, it wasn’t exactly my best idea, but turns out I’m in 5 classes this semester. That works out to be about 4 extra hours of class time a week, plus another 6 or so hours of homework, minimum.

See where my life has gone?

I think I’ve got a balance that should work now, and I’ll have to see how it works out. This is sort of my tester week for it.

On another note, I found an old Harry Potter fanfiction that I did WAY back in the day. I’ll post the link up in Scribbles so you can all, essentially, laugh at me. When I say back in the day, I mean about 7 years ago, so between books 5 and 6 (close to 5 though).

I have been trying to do the WoW thing, since I AM the Guild master. We did a Naxx run the other day, with people from another guild. Since ours is so small, we’re thinking about merging guilds. I’m logging on later tonight to see if the other GM and I can come up with something we both like. Hopefully, the ones on my side will get a better name then Typhoon (no, I did not pick the name, I inhereted it)

I leave you with a few vids of songs Ive been listening to at stupid o clock in the morning, and stuff that gets me through the school day. Enjoy!

Holidays & stuff

Happy Holidays to everyone! I hope that your holiday-whichever you choose to celebrate- was fun and happy.

I myself went with my almost husband to go see Avatar 3D. There was WAY more people there then I had expected! Our show sold out, as did the one before and after.

If you plan on seeing this movie, I highly suggest the 3d version. I’ve seen it both ways (we downloaded it and watched it on the laptop) and big screen and 3d was the way to go. The movie was fantastic small, but seeing it big was mind blowing. What makes this movie stand out is how seamlessly the 3d is integrated into the movie. Its so well done that, by the end of the movie, the most amazing thing is how much you DIDN’T notice the 3d. You just fell into the world, without even noticing.

I finished my book (!!), or at least the first draft. For some reason I thought it was a great idea to write it out on paper, so now I have to type it out and begin edits. I already know that its too short, so I have some scenes plotted out in my head that will add to both the flow and the plot. I’m excited to get them in. I conned my almost husband into typing it out for me because 1. I’m a slow typer and 2. he wants to get better at typing on his laptop. I just need him to do it. Preferably before school starts, in a week or so.

New patch, or…

How it helps me procrastinate.

I SHOULD be doing wedding stuff, seeing as its now only 5 months away, but, frankly, it sucks. Seriously, I wouldn’t wish wedding planning upon my worst enemy.

well, actually, I would, but regardless, its a pain in the ass. The only thing that’s actually concrete is the venue and my dress. That’s it. We don’t even have a damn guest list.

But, I digress!

New patch!

I have to say,  I LOVE the new LFG tool. Saves me loads of time looking for a damn healer-if I’m playing my DK, or a tank, if I’m playing my healer. It also opens up what I get to do, instance wise, rather then whatever the rest of the group picks, since its completely random. Keeps the game from getting boring by doing ToC, or the new Halls ones. Not that I don’t enjoy them, but it’s a nice treat to do, say, heroic nexus or Gun Drak. My other favorite thing about the LFG tool is that, using the eye icon on your minimap, you can port to the instance, and, should you need to repair, you can port right back in. Saves a lot of time flying, and hearthing.

My biggest beef with the LFG tool is the vote to kick. Now, actually, that’s a bit hasty. It’s actually quite handy when someone DC’s, or is unbearably rude, but it also enables the elitists to be MORE elite. I’ve had people give my DK flak when she doesn’t do 3k dps in a REGULAR. I know she still needs new gear, why do you think I would do regular, rather then heroic? Honestly, the nerve of some people.

I’ve pretty much blocked an entire server. I wish I was joking.

I haven’t gotten to do ICC yet, but I do know that you don’t actually get to fight the Lich King yet. Apparently, the release date for the second wing is going to be in April sometime. A little disappointed, but since I don’t have the gear score to get in, it doesn’t affect me much. As for the new instances-pit of sauron, hall of reflection and…Pit of souls? Hall of souls? Whatever. I like the new ones. A bitch to heal, sometimes  and I would think tank, as well, but overall something fun and different.

And,  has anyone else noticed the almost Jazz music that plays after you beat the first boss in Forge of Souls? Whats up with that?

I should be doing wedding stuff, but, I think the Winter Veil achievements deserve my attention more.

Gift Buying for geeks

We all have that geek that we love in our lives. With the Christmas holiday fast approaching, one has to wonder-what the hell do you get a geek? This is especially hard for those people who are NOT geeks.

Makes buying harder when you have NO idea what geeks like.

Hopefully, this will help you buy for the geek you love, without looking clueless.

Tip #1- They play computer games, such as World of Warcraft, or Starcraft, and you want to get them a collectible figure. It’s a good idea, however, make sure you know WHAT they play. For example, if they play a horde character, don’t get something from the Alliance side. If you need to, casually ask them while they are playing, saying that a friend wanted to know.

Tip #2-Know what kind of geek you are buying for. This seems obvious, but there are more then one type of geek, and a lot of them overlap. First thing is to know what type you are buying for, then see what they have already. Fantasy geek? Look into new books, or see if their favorite author (s) is traveling, or speaking at a con and buy them tickets.

(Click to Embiggen)

Tip #3-Want to buy them clothing? It isn’t impossible. It just takes some work on your part. Snoop around their closets, see what they have and pay attention to the sizes you see! Buying them something that’s too big is just as bad as buying them something too small. If it’s for a girl, its even worse, because then you insult them. ThinkGeek is always a good bet, and so is Jinx.

On this clothing note-I don’t suggest anything sexy, or handsome. It won’t end well, no matter how cute you think he/she will look in that dress top/skirt. The key to geek clothing is comfort and usability. If its a once in a while thing, it will be seen as useless.

Tip #4-Gift certificates are NOT the way to go. Ever. They are the epitome of laziness and proof that you really don’t know the person you are shopping for. Furthermore, it shows the person EXACTLY how much you spent on them,  and, those things should be kept private.

Tip#5- Just because they like small toys and gadgets doesn’t mean they need a 12 pack of thumb drives, no matter how cute they are. In most (but not all) cases one is often enough. At most, 2.

My recommendations! (or, things I want)

Caffeine, now in bling!

Never be OOM again

Druid FTW

Hope this helps!

It finally happened

I finally caved, and I signed up for Twitter. It feels like hell just got a touch colder, and yet, I don’t regret it. Yet.

Want to follow me? http://twitter.com/Anteela

Why Anteela? Well, all the other names I typically go by were all taken. That’s one thing. The other is that my newly 80 Death knight is named Anteela. She’s undead and adorable. Got a few epic pieces, from ToC, but still needs some work before I can be ready for Icecrown.

Right, Blizz finally announced Icecrown Citadel patch, and, I must say, it looks sick.  I’m excited to finally take on the Lich King. Though, I can’t help but wonder if we shall actually get to DEFEAT him. Perhaps there IS some sort of redemption for him, but I am leaning towards the not on that one.

Why am I not playing right now? It’s National Novel Writing month. I’m not actually participating, however, I am taking this time to work on my first draft and, hopefully, finish it. It’s been a long time coming, but the light is finally visible at the end of the tunnel.

Let me assure you, writing a whole novel is NOT fucking easy. Some people are under the impression that anyone can write, and, frankly, this simply isn’t true. Especially for those writer lucky enough to do that for a living. Most authors-published or not-have day jobs, and write on the side.

That’s to say nothing of the actual publishing process itself, which is just as time consuming and involved as the writing process.

When it rains…

Busy busy busy! I guess its that time of year. I went to the mall today, and I noticed that, even though Halloween is barely over, the Christmas decorations have sprung up like bad weeds.

I also noticed that my aggravation and general dislike of humanity increases in direct proportion to the amount of people in said mall.

In wow news, I have been focusing on getting my death knight to lvl 80. She’s getting close, and is still fully rested. I went through Howling Fjord this time, and I found I enjoyed the Borean Tundra quests more. Should I manage to get another toon to that level (besides my 72 mage that I have essentially abandoned) I think I will stick with Borean Tundra.

My big news is that I am engaged, and getting married. Wedding planning is a bitch, let me tell you. Especially considerng that I will be doing the actual ceremony in a different province, which makes bookings and whatnot a damn near impossibility.

It’s going to be a good ol’ rock and roll wedding, full of quirkiness and oddities. Oh, and, if I have my way, a tea party.

If you haven’t heard of these guys, I highly recommend that you hop on the wagon, and start enjoying them. They’re called The Gaslight Anthem, and their music is new rock and roll, with a 50’s kick to it. Highly addictive and catchy. His voice sends shivers down my spine, and most songs make me smile.

Another band that I am totally into right now is Paramore. Great songs, fantastic voice and catchy beats. Just the right amount of rock and pop with a dash of attitude.  And, lets face it, she’s goddamn adorable.

I may lack the bits to be a fanboy..

..But I can’t help myself. Felicia Day? Yea. Enough said.

I was trolling around in this website (seriously, that man is in a league of his own-one that is wittier than yours by far) and, by pure chance, happened across this.

Feel free to watch it multiple times. I did.

If that isn’t enough, the third season of The Guild is up on Xbox360 now.

Now, the real question is this: where do I find that outfit, and do they have my size?

Besides that, this is also truly epic, in a different way then the Guild, but just as fantastic.

To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.

The writing has finally came forth, so that’s fixed. I think.

Regardless.

I got thinking about what I have been doing over the past few weeks, and, my brain seemed to finally dislodge the answer. I’ve been watching Gundam Seed.

Unlike most anime, this story revolves around friendship, in all its forms, rather then the typical love story beloved by makers of anime.

The story is both profound and complex, becoming more and more tangled until damn near the last episode. Its the kind of story that will make you laugh, cry and then, finally, hope.

An end has a start

Clearly, I have not been updating as often as I would like. To add to that, I haven’t been playing as much WoW as I’d like either.

I think it comes along with the new job thing.

I have also been severely lacking in the writing department. And the reading one too.

What have I actually been up to?

Fucked if I know.

Whatever. Here’s some cool shit that I have been interested in as of late.

New WoW expansion announced…

Already? Really? Can we at least have Icecrown citadel announced FIRST? I mean, really, I’d like to plan out a fight with Arthas-the whole reason for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion-before I think about goblins, Worgen and new content.

I also really wish that I didn’t have to re-roll to Alliance. Honestly, Horde is KNOWN for having its monsters…why give the new one to the Alliance? While we’re at it, why goblins? They did very well as the middle man….

I am stoked for the new character and race combinations. If any other horde race should have Druids, trolls are it, they did well with that. I’m not impressed by Tauren Paladins, but I do want a character named Holy Cow. It doesn’t fit with the lore, for holy cows. Should have made it available for Undead, which WOULD make sense.

A lot of the other features, such as 85 level cap, remade Azeroth, and the ability to fly in the old Kingdoms, are totally awesome. Seems like Blizzard is remaking the game completely, to refresh the old content, and keep the old, from vanilla players playing.

Makes sense.

I think, though, instead of working on an expansion that we don’t yet need, races that are (kinda) lame, and new content, they should focus on making the current content actually, you know, playable.

At least before Trial of the Crusade (which I am loving! Screw moonkin, feral offspec all the way!) there was the CHANCE you could get into an instance.

Now…not so much. Over 20 minutes to get into Occulus? Are you kidding me?

Don’t get me wrong, I am super excited for the expansion, I’d just like to finish Wrath before I worry about new battles.
