Summer time

Party time!

Well, almost. I have 2 exams done, and one more to go before I am free for a very short summer break. Well, short depending on how you look at it. I have just about 3 weeks off to do whatever I want until the next semester, which is going to be a ballbuster, starts.

This means a few things

Firstly, I now will no longer have to feel guilty about reading manga when I am supposed to be studying. I know that the site that I had previously mentioned has been shut down, so here are a few others that should have their content up for a while, and have as much content as OneManga did. Manga Fox , Manga Reader , Manga Volume

This is a big thing too, since I have been reading a lot of manga lately. Read: Mammott! Lollopop!, Loveless, The world only God Knows, Awkward Silence, and a whole bunch of others that I can’t remember the titles of. I’m willing to take suggestions as well!

The summer break also means that I get to go back to playing some Warcraft. I caved this afternoon and logged in on a free trial, and, seriously, I think I now know how it feels when a junkie takes his first hit. it was intense.

Short lived, however. I have done every single starting zone of every single race of both factions that I get so mind-numbingly bored, I have to stop. This is what I am so excited that I managed to get my new priest over the hump of shitty quests (you know, to about level 40) and on to some different stuff. I’m not looking forward to Outlands, but I do want my priest to be 80.

That said, I’m not entirely sure how often I want to play my current 80′s. I’ve been hearing about a lot of negative shit that has been going on when trying to raid, or even just do some heroics. If this is true for my server, it just won’t be happening. I’m getting too old to deal with drama, or bullshit from a lot of the noobs, and the “elite” players. I might be a dying breed, but I’m in it for the game, not the bullshit.

Time off also means that I get to work on, and hopefully finish, the manga draft that I’m working on. Originally the idea that I had was going to be used for a short novel, but the more I fleshed out the plot, the more I feel that something visual is needed to do it justice. It is a damn shame that I can’t draw. Or, not well. Well, some certain things I can draw good, but people are totally out.

So, my summer vacation is almost here, while most people’s is about to end.

Summer tunes are always necessary, and this album (of which this is the title track) is totally rockin my socks.

Just a quick one…

It’s been gloriously hot in Vancouver this past week, which has been great. Went to the beach yesterday, where the sand was the only thing hotter than the women. I’ll do an update with photos later.

Today, I have to finish writing an essay outline about nuclear and coal power in Ontario, which will take up the majority of the day.

Cool things:

Smart FM-a Tokyo based learning platform that offers free education. Sort of. There are certain limits on what’s available, but they offer a good variety of languages (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Russian, German, Spanish, etc), Geography, English, Physics and other stuff.

Clarity of Night- I have it on good authority that Jason Evans over at Clarity of Night is doing another writing competition in the very near future. I’ll be adding my own submission to this contest as soon as its open.

One Manga-I’ve mentioned this one before, and fairly recently, but I think it bears repeating. One Manga offers a huge number of anime series online, in English, and open for anyone to read. If you like manga, but hate paying, or waiting for translated versions, this is a great place to go.

Chez Faye Cafe

I don’t do reviews for Beyond Robson anymore. We had some creative differences, and I left them. I wish them all the best and all that.

I have a few reviews that didn’t make it up to their site, so I thought I would do them here instead.

So, welcome to the cafe review series! Enjoy!

Chez Faye cafe is located right across from the Yaletown Skytrain station, and is super easy to find. Despite being almost next door to a Starbucks, the cafe seems to do a great amount of business, judging by the lack of seats, both inside and out. While patio is smaller than a lot of ones I’ve seen, it’s a lot more comfortable, especially on this beautiful day.

The decor is bright and sunny orange, that has a lovely pinkish undertone to it. There are some regular tables and chairs, which are all standard, but there are a few chairs which are just fabulous, straight out of grandma’s parlour. They look a little gaudy, but so fantastic, it’s awesome. The vibe of the cafe is great. It’s a good place for a first date, or a get together with old friends. Great couches, great atmosphere, and a medley of some of the most famous 50’s songs playing.  It’s also really great for people watching, and the location can’t be beat.

Being married means..

…that I can look as retarded as I want, apparently.

Or, at least, that seems to be the story that’s told by the wedding photos…or at least the ones that I’ve seen. I’m sure that are still oodles of people with retarded photos of me, but, frankly, I’m sure they are all similarly retarded.

For those who were wondering, our wedding was voted as #1 all around by all the guests. We had good tunes, no speeches, and, lets face it, my husband and me are some of the funniest people around. Oh, and, fuck the wedding march, I walked down the aisle to the Imperial march. How cool is that?

Back to the retarded thing. This first photo is just as the ceremony was ending, and I still look pretty good.

Or, I think I did, anyways. We also managed to have a fairly cheap wedding, which is excellent as we are both students, ass deep in debt.

Now, as the night progressed, the expression of my face went downhill. In a hilarious way. This was about 5 minutes after the one above.

Then we have this little gem.

See? My wedding decent into retardation. I’m not sure if there is any lingering affects, but, so far I’m alright, and nothing much has changed. I mean, besides the toaster. Or the whole no longer living in sin thing.

We also had the most awesome cake ever. We named it the Death Cake of Awesomenes.

You can’t see it from this shot, but the Baroness is in that fountain in the middle. And she’s dead.
