Happy Holidays to everyone! I hope that your holiday-whichever you choose to celebrate- was fun and happy.
I myself went with my almost husband to go see Avatar 3D. There was WAY more people there then I had expected! Our show sold out, as did the one before and after.
If you plan on seeing this movie, I highly suggest the 3d version. I’ve seen it both ways (we downloaded it and watched it on the laptop) and big screen and 3d was the way to go. The movie was fantastic small, but seeing it big was mind blowing. What makes this movie stand out is how seamlessly the 3d is integrated into the movie. Its so well done that, by the end of the movie, the most amazing thing is how much you DIDN’T notice the 3d. You just fell into the world, without even noticing.
I finished my book (!!), or at least the first draft. For some reason I thought it was a great idea to write it out on paper, so now I have to type it out and begin edits. I already know that its too short, so I have some scenes plotted out in my head that will add to both the flow and the plot. I’m excited to get them in. I conned my almost husband into typing it out for me because 1. I’m a slow typer and 2. he wants to get better at typing on his laptop. I just need him to do it. Preferably before school starts, in a week or so.

This could be the year that you make all the difference in the world, to yourself, a friend or family member, or to society in general.
What’s stopping you?
I know the stress of work, and family obligations can be intense, but, more people need to take time out of their day to do some of life’s simple things, and have fun in the process. This goes for everyone!
Making someone’s day is quite simple and easy, and, if you’re really pressed, can be of almost no effort on your part.
Feel free to add your own ideas and suggestions in the comments area!
1. Smile. Something as simple as a smile can make a day. It requires little effort on your part, and can bring a lot of happiness to someone who is having a bad day. Without realizing it, many people frown, or look cross when walking down the street, or while shopping-usually because their minds are elsewhere. Try smiling instead, or think of things that bother you while out of the public view. That frown can ruin someone’s day.
2. Courtesy. Saying thank you to the bus driver, or the taxi driver is both proper and deserved. While these people are just doing their jobs, a simple thank you can make their day a good one, rather then a bad one.
2.1 On that vein, some things are just common courtesy. This one gets me all the time, living in a notoriously rainy city. Umbrellas. In this city especially, no one seems to care that they have an umbrella and get careless. The ends are pointy, watch where they are!! Furthermore, not everyone has an umbrella, or forgets them. If you have one, leave the awnings for those without, instead of hogging it for yourself.
3. Keep your work and private life separate. Don’t bring your work home with you, especially if you’ve had a bad day. Whoever is listening to you rant and rave is getting more and more depressed and unhappy listening to you complain about everything that’s wrong with your life. Who wants to spend their evenings with a grumpy gus?
4. Have fun. Whatever needs to get done, will get done. Have some fun with your life, you only have one!

2009
This is the start of a new year. New resolutions, new ideas, and a whole new life.
If you’re lucky that is, of course. Most people have the great idea of starting a whole new life, and a whole new self, but find it much easier to just give up and get stuck in their own habits.
But don’t give up hope!
There are a lot of simple things to do to make yourself a “better person” without that trip to the plastic surgeon, or the therapist for anger management.
Over the next few days, I’ll give my ideas about how to help yourself this year. Feel free to send me your own ideas which I will gladly post here!!
Ways to be a better person-in Society:
1. Be kind and courteous to those in the service industry. I know that can be hard, the Starbucks employee is a little slow, but that is no reason to be rude to them. They’re just doing their job, and they might be new. Remember your first week at the job? Exactly.
2. Don’t stare at the “weirdos”. Just because someone had a foot high pink mohawk doesn’t give you the right to make them uncomfortable by staring for an unreasonable amount of time. You may not understand them, or want to know them, but, trust me, we have feelings too.
3. Holding the door open for someone, or giving up your seat on the bus will never go out of style. Society today seems to forget that there are billions of other people in the world, likely having a worse day then you. Being kind can go a long way!
I have plenty more, but, I’ll get to them later! Feel free to add your own in the comments!!
